LG 24MP88HV compatibility with Mac Mini

I asked LG about their 24" screen 24MP88HV and they told me that it is not fully compatible with the Mac Mini M1.

They recommended to buy a LG UltraFine screen instead.

Well, I don't have a lot of space on my desk, 1920*1080p is fine for me and UltraFine screens cost a lot more than the other one.

  • So, is this screen not good enough for my future Mac Mini M1 ?
  • I've read on a forum that it is best to buy a screen with 110 or 220 PPI for MacOS, is that true ? Because I don't want to have blurry texts.

I'm guessing the 24MP88HV is simply missing a few software features such as 'on-screen-control'. I've been using an LG-24UD58 with my (2018) Mini which should be basically the same (4K, but no speakers).

As for resolution, a precise PPI of 110 or 220 isn't required. 175-225 PPI generally works best as that lets MacOS render the UI in half-scale retina mode for sharp-text that renders fast. 88-112 PPI was the old standard everyone used ten years ago which works but will seem grainy in comparison to modern iPhones/iPads.

Intermediate resolutions such as a 27" 4K display running at 164 PPI are controversial, and slightly/situationally blurry text with uneven scaling is part of the concern.
