M1 bluetooth issues

Hello. I've had my M1 MBP since it was launched last year and I'm really starting to get annoyed with the bluetooth stuttering issues. This issue has been discussed in many places on the net and nothing seems to fix it. I've tried all the reset tricks and everything, please don't tell me my wifi is interfering. One thing I have to point out is that I don't actually think this is specifically a bluetooth issue but rather some kind of bus issue. I have a logitech mx master mouse which can connect via BT or their wireless receiver and the behaviour is the same in both cases.

Here is a run down of the issues I am having.

  • Bluetooth headphones work just fine for music but as soon as I get on a call and it switches to two way the audio begins to stutter. I get those classic digital audio breakups when listening to someone speak and it happens quite regularly. Switching over to a hardwired headset resolves the issue completely.
  • The MX Master mouse has really annoying stutter issues connected via either BT or Logitech wireless.
  • I have a magic mouse 2 which suffers from the stutter less than the MX master but to be honest the level of precision compared to the MX master is pretty poor with the magic mouse so maybe it's a matter that it's less noticeable.
  • I do have an Anker USB-C hub/dock that I use when I'm sitting at my desk. The issue occurs with it and without it plugged in.

The audio stutter with the BT headphones when on a call is terrible and really annoying. There is some kind of underlying hardware or software issue here and it's been here since this laptop came out. I absolutely love this machine but this is the one single thing that ruins it. I'd like to know if this is an acknowledged issue and what the plan is.

Hi DoubleOPinter,

We see you're running into a persistent issue with bluetooth on your M1 MacBook Pro across several accessories.

Given multiple accessories are affected, and the steps you've already tried, can you confirm if all of this only happens at a specific location, such as your home?

For example, do you encounter the issue with your headphones in a different location such as a cafe or work/school, etc? How about a different room in your home?

If the issue seems to be more prevalent in one location than the other, we'd recommend reviewing the following tips to help isolate potential sources of Bluetooth / Wi-Fi interference below:

Let us know the additional details requested, and if the issue persists in a reply to this post.

Cheers!
