MacBook Air 2020 M1 choppy video playback

I just purchased this computer yesterday, installed adobe creative suite and have been making a couple videos using Adobe After Effects. The videos export as .mov files for QuickTime, but when attempting to open them it says they're not compatible with QuickTime. I downloaded VLC player which plays the videos but they're very choppy / laggy.

Quicktime playback is choppy / stuttering on powerful iMac Pro? Hello I'm suffering playing back a 4K .mp4 file. It's 1GB in size, 16 seconds long, and the playback is choppy in Quicktime and VLC. Some ProRes flavors do not display correctly in QuickTime on M1 MacBookPro On my brand new MacBook Pro running 12.0.1 Monterey, some flavors of ProRes 422 HQ and/or 4444 produce only BLACK images when opened in QuickTime Player (or inside Adobe After Effects or Premiere). I can hear the AAC soundtrack fine, but the video is blank. (RV Player from Shotgrid opens them fine.) Older versions of MacOS where the files do open or import fine reveal that these are "Lavc58.18.1000 prores_ks" flavors with Trillions of Colors+, and I'm pretty sure they were originally generated/encoded by ffmpeg. Hoping filing this report will somehow lead to the QuickTime team updating the next round of the Monterey OS or QuickTime components, and my M1 machine will soon be able to read what my older machine has no trouble with. (If there is somewhere else to submit this bug, someone please let me know.) Thanks, z
