I cannot receive SMS or group texts from a specific Android phone after switching carriers

I switched from Verizon to Mint mobile about a month ago and since changing over i have not been able to receive text messages from a specific person in my contacts who uses an android phone. I've received other SMS texts since the changeover from multiple other people.

I am in mutiple group chats with this person - they are receiving my messages but i cannot see theirs. I see every other message in these chats (all from iphones). I can also send individual texts to them - they receive the messages but i can't receive any responses. This person can call me and I can call them so the number isn't blocked.

I've tried resetting network settings and all of the other fixes for being unable to receive texts but I'm at a loss. It seems like a unique situation that I've been trying to solve for weeks, any help would be greatly appreciated!
