HomePod will not stay connected to IMac

I set my iMac to use the HomePod as the speakers. It worked after I restarted my computer. I have been unable to get the Homepod to connect to the iMac for two days. I have tried restarting the computer. The screen shows the two are connected but no sound. I have adjusted the volume so I know it is not set on mute. Is there a software issue?

Power cycle the HomePod and your router. Change the AirPlay settings to local speakers, check that you can play sound on the laptop, then try AirPlaying to the HomePods once more. If it still doesn't work consider Resetting your HomePod - Apple Support.
