iCloud cannot load backups on IPhone 13 Pro Max Set Up

Hello. I am trying to set up my new IPhone 13 pro max. When I click to restore data from ICloud in set up, it says “cannot load ICloud backups”. My ICloud was backed up last night (it’s on auto) and I have 1TB of ICloud storage. What should I do? I tried backing up my 11 pro max again, and it keeps switching from estimating time and 1 minute remaining, to saying it was backed up yesterday at 11pm.

Hi sarahtott,

Congratulations on the new iPhone 13 Pro Max. This message may occur if the iPhone 11 has a newer software version than the iPhone 13. Make sure the iPhone 13 has the latest software version which is 15.0.2, and then check for iCloud backups again.

You will need to set up the iPhone as a new device in order to update the software: Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch After updating the iPhone, erase all content and settings: How to erase your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. This will allow you to start the setup process again in order to restore the iCloud backup: Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from a backup.

If you continue to experience the issue with restoring the backup, follow the steps here: If restore from iCloud backup failed

Hope this helps. Take care.
