iPhone 11 Pro Lock not working

I just purchased a new iPhone 11 Pro. The side lock button rarely works to put the phone in lock mode - occasionally does, but usually that doesn't persist. Same with the 30 second auto lock. I found the support article from 2020 suggesting restarting (no help) and reinstalling iOS from a computer (no help). The buttons all function fine, just the lock feature not working.

Since that 11 is brand new and still covered by warranty, I suggest that you make an appointment (*) and have your device inspected at an Apple Store or AASP (Apple Authorized Service Provider) among this list:--> Apple – Location Selector. After checking it out, they'll give you all the available options.
