Apple Watch black screen ; still vibrates and battery at 80+%

Issue: Apple Watch series 4 has black screen

battery ok - 80%

still vibrates

os updates kept up to date

researched and tried the following:

-hold down side button and crown button for

10 seconds

30 seconds

still no Apple logo

-tapped around face and back of watch

-have voice on, and it will ask for passcode

I have tapped in passcode on black screen- no luck

-I do see diagnostics logs on iPhone under watch.

I suspect firmware issue, but watch is not accessible.

not sure if I should unpair and pair . from what I have read , this will keep the activation lock file.

or

reset watch via iPhone watch app.
