Mac Book Pro no USB ports….BECAUSE??

My current MacBook Pro is on its last leg, its time to purchase a new one. In doing my research and looking at the newer versions, it seems they don’t have USB ports or a place for a Camera card. Why? This doesn’t seem logical? Why and what purpose does it serve to not have these?

Historically, they did the same thing with the CD drive. And you had to purchase an external CD drive which was a pain in the butt. Now, I’m seeing the same thing again. What am I missing here ?

What advantages is there or not to having USB ports or a place to insert cards to upload pictures. Not only do you have to pay for these extra devices after already paying a significant amount for a computer, but, the hassle of having to bring different cords and connectors seems to be a bit much.

Can someone please help me understand… How this is an advantage? And anyone that I have spoken to tells me it’s terrible. And because of that they would never buy another Mac again. I have been a Mac user for years. Again I’m hoping someone can explain the rationale. Am I just overreacting?

There are ports, which vary and some require newer adapters or cables.

Card readers? Mine are built into Macs. Others? Could be external option.
