I am currently using a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 audio interface to record my trumpet in GarageBand. I want to add a TC Helicon Harmony G effects pedal so I can add effects to my trumpet when playing and recording. Can this be done? If so, how do I do it? BTW, There is no USB port on the TC Helicon. I’m very technologically challenged and need step by step instructions if this is possible. TIA.
It is usually better to record dry and add the effects in post.
However, it sounds like the helicon is an analog pedal. If you are using the mic inputs to the focus rite, you will need to get a preamp to boost the mic signal which can then feed the helicon which can then be recorded with the line in connections on the focus rite.

And will GarageBand pick up the effects in the recording? What I’m reading is I would hear the effects in the headphones, but would not record in GarageBand. Only the instrument minus the effects will be recorded.
I also want to eventually hook up to an amp. I want to be able to play along with music without headphones. Would I need an amp or just a speaker with XLR inputs?
