Samsung M2825 M Laser printer connected but unable to print properly

Technical data:

iMac 24-inch, M1, 2021, 16gb RAM, macOS Big Sur, connected via WiFi to home lan (Linksys WRT 1900 ACS Router). A Samsung M2825 M Laser printer is connected via Ethernet cable to the same router.

The printer is working flawlessly with any other device connected to the same network (Windows and Android devices). The 2011 MacBook I used to own until January was also able to print with no problem.

I was able to install the printer on the iMac; it recognized it and automatically selected AirPrint connection. All settings on the printer are set according to HP's (now the owner of Samsung printer division) instructions for AirPrint.

Nevertheless, when I print any document from any application, I get a number of sheets with one or just few gibberish characters on each one.

I encountered this type of error in the past when the printer driver was not properly installed, but this does not seem to be the case.

The Apple support suggested to uninstall the printer, reboot the iMac in safe mode, and reinstall it, which I did with no success.

Any suggestions?

iMac 24″, macOS 11.6

Hi,

You mentioned a Samsung M2825 M Laser printer. Any additional suffix information (for example, M2825ND)?

According to the manual (http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c05790194.pdf#G3.4667784), M282x models support AirPrint. Samsung Xpress M2825DW and M2825ND are also listed in About AirPrint - Apple Support (September 30, 2021 edition).

There could possibly be three ways of using this printer:

a) AirPrint

b) Samsung Universal Print Driver V3.93.01 (https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/printers/SS/Print_Common_SW/Samsung_Mac_Driver_V3.93.01.dmg)

c) generic PCL driver

For AirPrint, if all settings are OK, and with the printer and the computer connected to the same network, you may want to try a full power-cycling sequence in this order: Power off the router, the printer, the iMac, and all other devices/computers. Wait two to three minutes. Power on the router. Wait two to three

minutes. Power on the printer. Wait a minute or two. Power on the iMac. Finally, power on all other devices/computers.
