When I got my new iPadPro 12.9, the OLD iPadPro was still on the account. After I removed it from the account, the new one still has (2) as part of its name. That is not important perhaps, but it sure does bother me. How do I change the name?

You can change the device name from iPad Settings:
Settings > General > About > Name - edit the device name as required
You will likely need yo restart the iPad before the device name is updated in your device list.
