Commenting Logitech MX Keys for Mac to Mac mini

I have tried all the instructions in previous replies. They do not work. I do not find a choice of keyboard devices anywhere. I cannot turn off Bluetooth because then I lose all means of controlling the Mac. One time the keyboard did appear. Connected--Disconnected--Connected--Disconnected---------continuously. iOS has been updated. iCloud interference has been turned off. Still no use. But it looks as if this might be possible somehow. Please help or I will just have to return the Logitech keyboard which does look like a very nice one to use.

FWIW, I have the Logitech MX Keys keyboard that I share between another Mac and a PC. Each device that I share this keyboard with requires the Logitech Unifying Receiver. With this setup, I can easily switch between which computer is using the keyboard by simply pressing the "switching," i.e., "1-2-3" keys on the keyboard.

All of this is configured using two different apps:

  1. Logitech Unifying app - Unifying receivers that are bundled with a Logitech product are paired with the device at the factory. When purchasing a replacement receiver or connecting multiple devices to one receiver, pairing requires the Unifying app. This is how you "link" the receiver and the Logitech Unifying device, similar to how you do so with Bluetooth.
  2. Logitech Options software - Once successfully linked, you can configure your Logitech devices using this software.

I see that Logitech now has a MX Keys Mini version of this keyboard. Which one do you actually have? Will you only be connecting keyboard to a single device (Mac mini)? If so, then again, the receiver will need to be connected to one of the available USB-A ports on the mini. Since these are all in the back, you may need to use an extended USB cable to place the receiver in the front of the mini should there be too much interference between the receiver & where the keyboard is located. (Note: I had to do this as I use a roll-up desk where my mini is placed inside one of the desk's drawers.)

To simplify getting the keyboard initially set up, I suggest you try the following. Note: I'm assuming that you only have the MX Keys keyboard at this time:

  1. If you have a wired mouse & keyboard, connect them to the mini and use them for the following steps.
  2. Install both the Logitech Options & Unifying apps onto the mini.
  3. Insert the Unifying receiver into an available USB-A port on the mini.
  4. Run the Unifying app. It should take you through a few steps to both locate and link the MX keyboard to your mini.
  5. After verifying that the keyboard is now linked, you can remove the wired keyboard.
  6. Restart your mini and verify that it can now use the MX Keys keyboard.

I have the new Logitech MX Keys for Mac. It is supposed to be a wireless connection although it does have a charging USC-C connector. I have tried it both connected and not connected. I did ONCE get the Mac Mini to recognize the keyboard but it kept turning on and then off and then on and then off. Could only get this to happen once. Fortunately I also have an old Apple Magic keyboard that does still work. The Mac Mini does, however, recognize the Logitech MX Mouse wirelessly. So I can look into getting some Logitech software and will also contact Logitech tech support since they must run into this problem frequently Thank you for your reply. If anyone else has another suggestion, please let me know.
