iTunes Auto play in car

Hello, every time I get into my car ITunes begins to auto play music through the Bluetooth connection. I have followed other suggestions on how to stop this online, but with no success. Apparently it is not possible to stop it without completely severing iTunes from internet connection, and it still auto plays when tied into my WiFi in the driveway. Or you have to set a time limit on screen time controls for iTunes in order to stop it. There is no way to actually stop auto play within iTunes itself. Even if you click the little icon on the song playing screen it seems to reset itself every time I get into my car and begins auto play again. This is very frustrating and really annoying. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

My new iPhone 13 pro max does the same thing. I have to open iTunes, and then close it to make it stop playing. It will even start playing randomly whenever it wants to while driving and I have to open iTunes again, and close it again to make it stop. It’s highly frustrating and annoying. My stereo is just an old aftermarket stereo with Bluetooth audio only. Nothing fancy. My iPhone 5s I just upgraded from did not do this with the same stereo, ever. It’s not the stereo, it’s something to do with newer phones and it needs to be fixed.

Hello Karina 184,

Thank you for responding. Unfortunately you are not correct. There is no function/option to turn auto play through Bluetooth On of Off within my 2018 vehicles factory entertainment system. Also as you can see by “artistichighs” comments, they have a much older stereo system and since they’ve upgraded from an iPhone 5 to a 13, they have had the same problem I am having, and there is no way to stop it. Apparently this is an iPhone software issue. I assume you work with Apple, so Will Apple try to address and fix this bug? Please advise. Thank you.

Hello TR1876,

From your post it seems you are concerned about iTunes auto starting when connecting to your car system.

You are correct. There is no setting on the iPhone that will control the auto play when connecting via Bluetooth.

This action is actually controlled by the device the iPhone is connecting to. We would suggest you reach out to the sound system manufacturer to see if they have any suggestions on how to change this behavior.

Have a good day.
