iPhone mutes caller when I speak

When speaking to only one specific caller their conversation mutes if I speak at the same time. It causes delays and very difficult to make conversation. It doesn’t happen with other callers. She has an iPhone 11 and it used to happen when I had an iPhone 6 but still happens now I have an iPhone 11.

Is the problem on her end and what can we do?

Update your Device:

I see you have iOS 14 installed. Update it to iOS 15, and see if all is fixed. Installing updates fixes bugs.


To Check for Updates:

Use a Computer and Ethernet:

Start with attempting an update through use of a computer. If you cannot use Wi-Fi, then use Ethernet.  Go Here: Update your iPhone Using a Computer - User Tip. On the computer, you would connect it through Ethernet, going directly into your router. For a Mac (or PC) that does not have Ethernet, this would be the adapter to use: Belkin USB-C to Gigabit Ethernet Adapter - Apple. If you get the same error, the model is likely just not compatible.
