Personal hotspot issue

I can connect my MacBook (late 2013 model) to my inPhone (Xs) via personal hotspot. Previously this has worked with no issues. Now, I can connect, I get the chain link logo at the top of the Macbook Screen, but whichever browser I try (Safari, Firefox, Chrome) it tells me I have no internet connection. The iPhone does have a connection however, through 4G. Why might this have ceased to work?

Mac is OS 11.5, phone is 15.0.

Thank you for any advice.

dominicferret,

If you were able to review the article we previously provided and this continues, you can back up iPhone and reset the network settings. This will not remove any of your content such as contacts, photos, or notes. Your network settings such as Wi-Fi networks, passwords, and VPNs would be removed. Please be sure to have the login credentials for your networks before resetting.

Once you’ve created a backup you can go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. iPhone will restart and you can re-establish the Personal Hotspot.

How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Regards.

Hi there dominicferret,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities.

We understand that you're not able to use your web browsers while being connected to Instant Hotspot from iPhone. Does this behavior affect other internet-based apps on your Mac?

Try connecting iPhone by USB or remove personal hotspot from System Preferences > Network and re-establish the connection using the guidance found in Use an iPhone or iPad to connect your Mac to the internet.

Regards.
