Can't change server ports in Mac Mail

I'm currently migrating my hosting to a new company and so need to change my email accounts to new settings. I'm very familiar with doing this and have had no issues with my mobile devices, but with Mac Mail running on macOS Big Sur 11.6, I can't seem to enter the server settings I want. I've set up two accounts so far. My mailboxes are on hosting running SSL and so I want to use TLS/SSL with the incoming port 993 and the outgoing port 465, but when I try to change the settings and click Save, nothing happens. The Save button disappears as if it has saved, but if I click away and come back to it, the settings have reverted to the 143/587 which it picked up when I set the account up (having attempted to change the settings, I deleted the accounts and reset them up).

Can anyone help me with why this happens, shouldn't an error message appear if it doesn't like the port numbers I'm entering?

Have you disabled "Automatically maintain connection settings?"

Even then, I have found it sometimes takes a couple of tries to get things to stick.


Another option might be forcing a manual configuration. When you add the account, but in bogus information in the username and password. That should cause it to allow manual setup from the start without grabbing the info from the server.
