"Find My" sound not playing on watch

Hello, my watch is not on mute, the sound is rather loud when a phone call or message comes in. But when I use the "Find my" app, select the watch and click "play sound", it shows as "now playing" in the app, but the watch remains silent. I've seen others describe this problem but I have not seen a usable solution. All the sound settings on the watch are on.

I'd also like to know if it's possible to play the "Find my" sound when the watch is on mute, because I probably won't remember to unmute it before I misplace it. I don't want my watch to make any noise, only when I want to locate it with the "Find my" app.

Suggestions welcome.

The sound should play regardless of whether or not the watch is muted.

The first (and simplest) thing to try if something isn’t working right is to restart your Apple Watch and its paired iPhone. If necessary (device not responding), try a forced restart. Both methods can be found here:

If that doesn't help, the next steps would be to unpair and pair your watch again and restore from the backup just created. This should result in no loss of data. It deletes all temp and corrupted files and re-indexes the file system.
