Ordering new MacBook Pro 2021 14 inch - do I need to upgrade the CPU?

I'm about the press the order button. :)

I'm finally upgrading my 8 year old MBP late 2013 retina 13 inch with 512 GB storage and 16 GB RAM.

I'm going for the new 14 inch with 2 TB storage (finally bringing my Photos library home to my internal drive!) and 32 GB RAM.

I don't do video editing.

Is there any advantage to paying extra for the 10 core CPU which is a couple of hundred dollars more expensive than the 8 core CPU? I think that's the only difference.

Thanks,

doug

I had this close friend who passed away last year at age 100. Every year he tended to give me Apple gift cards for holidays and my birthday since we were both Apple fans. I never used them, so over a long time they added up. And now, thanks to him, I can get a new MacBook Pro for work.

I noticed they had a "screen polishing" option, but I decided to skip that.

Anyway, delivery is 8-10 business days. Not bad!
