Trackpad Multitouch Issues With M1 MacBook Air

Got the same issues on M1 Pro 14" sometimes (pinch zooming does not respond or the "slide to change app/desktop" feature does not work - the gesture with 3 or 4 fingers from left to right). If that happens, the multi view (F3-Key) does not respond either.

Workaround is to go to terminal and type in:

killall Dock

This restarts everything (takes under one second) and all is back to normal. Therefore I'm 100% confident that its a software and not a hardware issue.

Hope this helps someone here or the development team to find the bug.

Happening on my M1 Pro (12.2) again. Not that often but it happens.

One way to resolve is not anymore by Terminal: "killall Dock" but by disabling and enableing zooming in and out on the trackpad in settings.

The best thing we can do I think is to report the bug on Feedback Assistant... https://feedbackassistant.apple.com Seems like there are less than 10 reports at the moment.

I have the same issue... not only with Adobe software but also with Sketch App and other graphic softwares. For the most part, only pinch/zoom is affected but sometimes, trackpad gets completely irresponsive. When just pinch/zoom is affected, I can fix by disabling and enabling back the pinch zoom option from the preferences but when trackpad is not responding at all, I have to reboot. My Mac is the M1 Pro Max, it's up-to-date as well as all softwares installed. I don't have Rosetta installed neither use any softwares here that haven't been optimized for the M1 yet. It's pretty frustrating a brand new Mac, only 2 months old, with issues already. I am waiting the Omicron surge calms down to take to Apple.

Same problem here MacBook Air M1. I have some solution. Go to settings --> trackpad--> scroll&zoom and then uncheck and check again Zoom in or out

Also having the same problem with my M1 MacBook Pro 16" as stated above. Super annoying. Especially when using rhino. Only restart of the application helps... Hope this will be fixed soon.

I've got a new M1 Max MacBook Pro 16" updated with the latest software updates and I'm also experiencing this extremely annoying problem. Pinching with two finger in order to zoom just randomly stops working in all different apps like Safari, Rhino, Preview, etc.

When will this be fixed?

Hello, I have the same problems with my new Macbook Pro 16" M1 Max with 32GB RAM and 1TB storage, it started happening since the latest os update. All of a sudden pinch zooms stops working, sometimes in Safari, sometimes elsewhere, and after waiting some time, several seconds to a minute it resumes again. It is very annoying, never had such problem with my 2014 Macbook Pro. It is strange because it was mentioned in the bug fixes with the latest os update and I never had the issue before the fix :) Hope Apple would soon unfix it :)

I have exactly same problem on a new M1 Pro 14 inch. It was shipped with MacOS 12.X. I've been reading that many people have problems with trackpad after upgrading OS but I found all of them to complain about some double tapping and scrolling issues.

I do have small scrolling issues but pinch to zoom is the one which drives me crazy. I was worried that it may be a hardware issue since not many people complain about it. I am considering to take my back to apple unless I verify that more people have that issue. So far it's you and me only that I found :(

I am also on an M1 Pro 14-inch (10 / 16 + 32GB) – Same problem here. Pinch to zoom is unreliable. Sometimes it works, sometimes it does not. Sometimes it is just a bit choppy.

Loving everything else about this machine – but man, that pinch to zoom. Hope it is a software issue.

I am having the same issue. Macbook M1 Max 16 Inch (10/16 32 - 32GB)

Is this a software thing? Really annoyed by this, especially with a device this expensive. Never had anything like it with any Macbook before.
