Death wheel clicking “transform” after update

Hey all,

This morning I updated my MBP and FCP. I opened a library I had been working on last night and went to transform a basic title. Initially I would see the spinning wheel of death after I set my first key frame and attempted to navigate backwards a frame using the left arrow key. I searched on here and found a suggestion to reset preferences after force quitting by pressing and holding command and option when loading FCP.

After I reloaded FCP and reloaded my library and project, I attempted the same thing and now I get the spiny wheel of death immediately as I hit transform.

Looks like the auto detection of the MBP version below is wrong. It’s running OS 11.6 and FCP 10.6

Update: if I leave the spiny wheel of death alone I eventually get “Your system has run out of application memory” and it shows FCP using 51GB. The project in question has a 15s video clip and a couple of basic titles.

Any ideas?

Two problems I notice; one is that the system drive is too full and doesn’t have enough free space to function properly. There should be 15%. Unfortunately the system snapshots are taking up a lot of space and not releasing it to applications. The other problem is that you have Chrome installed, or left overs of having it installed. Check out chromeisbad.com to see hope to remove these bits. You might also have to reinstall the application.

I didn't note the versions before the update but I'm pretty good about keeping it up to date (the MBP is only a couple of months old but is the 13" 2020 model).

Is there another way to get you the information you asked about? I don't have enough info on EtreCheck and it looks like there is concern out there that some versions of that app contain malware. I'm not a fan of installing software if I don't absolutely have to :D

Just wanted to update you. Thank you for looking into it. I cleaned up some space but still had the issue. It turns out it's an issue with a basic title. Not sure why but if I manipulated the title in various ways I could get FCP to crash. I had to find work arounds and have been able to get by.

Are there not any log files with FCP that will help to identify causes of issues like these?
