Unable to see saved notes

When I got into the "notes" folder I can see a preview of the saved notes, however when I select one to view the screen on my iphone 11 Pro Max is blank. As a test I started a new note and nothing showed up as I was typing but when I saved it it also showed up on the preview list. Is there a workaround or something needed to be unselected after the last update?
