I just do I enable a notification banner for Low Battery in Big Sur 11.6?
The older versions of MacOS used to send a notification when battery charge fell below 20%.
All the discussions/answers I've found so far refer to an Energy Saver option in Preference but that went away in Big Sur and there's no option for enabling notifications in the Battery option of System Preferences.

There is a Free or Paid for Application coconutBattery 3 that, if set to run all the time can be configured to alert to when battery reaches a certain level.
Yes my post has two sections.
One that informs you of the battery icon in the menubar.
And the seconding tell you to open System Preferences> Notifications
there should be a Battery option allowing
the low battery status notification to display.
Can you not see that in the first post.
It's not on my Notifications screen, is there a way to add it?
(in the screenshot above the notifications are organized alphabetically, Battery is not an option)

Open System Preferences> Notifications there should be a Battery option allowing
the low battery status notification to display.
thanks. i was referring to the banner notification that alerts you when the battery reaches a certain percentage, the warning notification, not just the percentage.
Sorry, yes, I saw it.
But the battery doesn't appear as an option in my System Preferences/Notifications.
Have you scrolled down the full list.
If you scroll down the list of items in System Preferences> Notifications
you should come across Energy Saver, switching on the alerts for this
should give you the low battery notification.
Depending on the Age of the computer, some aspects may or may not apply to the OP's computer ??
Would have though that a MacBook Air 2020 is one of the macs that would definitely need the low battery warning.
I give up.
Maybe people should buy better computers.
Batteries are considered Consumable Products. Over time it will degrade to a point where it needs to be replaced. The usage is normal as the capacity will go up and down all the time and never stay always at 100%. Apple Batteries are rated for 1000 Full Battery Cycles and / or 80% Capacity before needing Evaluation or replacement.

A feature introduced into Big Sur was to preserve the number of Full Battery Cycles - there was an Algorithm coded into the macOS. It is perfectly Normal for Big Sur to Pause / Suspend charging the battery beyond 80% and hold it at that level. One can nudge / over-ride this by clicking the Battery Icon on Desktop Top Bar and allow charging beyond 80%. From observations, it will Pause / Suspend again once reading 90%. Same procedure to over-ride and will charge to 100%
