esim on ipad

i have an iphone which can not instrall esim, guess it's a Hong Kong model MWD92ZA/A so i scanned the esim QR code to my iPad mini 5th generation model MUX52PP/A and it accepted the carrier as cellular data plan. Problem is i need to receive SMS on this particular telephone number to approve bank transaction, my bank is a Thai bank that uses OTP as verification. I am currently out of Thailand, the covid situation makes it impossible to return for the time being. I used to have another iPhone with physical SIM of the number used for the bank, the phone was unfortunately stolen and i have asked a friend to make an esim with the same number and send to me. I have the new QR code, question is if i can configure the iPad to receive SMS on this particular phone number?

Not with ANY iPad, alone.

Sorry.

No iPad ( Wifi + cellular data model ) can make cell phone calls or send SMS message, , on its own.

A cellular data iPad is simply for normal messaging between Apple devices, Internet use over a cellular data service and for use as a precision GPS device, AND that is it!

To make actual cell phone calls and to send SMS messages through an iPad requires an iPhone using the call and message forwarding feature of the iPhone, making the iPad a linked remote device to an iPhone.

Sorry, but what you want to do simply will NOT work.

Sorry.
