iCloud Sharing Limitations

I have Apple One Premier that includes 2TB of iCloud+ storage. I currently have 1.7TB of the 2TB free. The total size of my entire photo library only 95GB. Yet Apple still limits me from sharing any video that is more than 15 minutes long. As stated in HT202786, "The photos and videos in your Shared Albums are kept in iCloud, but they don't count against your iCloud storage limit." Hmmm. My 2TB storage plan states "It's enough to keep everyone's photos, videos, and documents safely stored in iCloud". True, I agree, it clearly is since I have 1.7TB unused. But why can't I choose to use that free space?

I get why Apple implemented video sharing limitations this way. But times have changed. And now that I am now paying for a huge amount of unused space, I should have the option to use my own storage space rather than the free storage Apple limits me to. I frequently want to share videos from theme parks with family and friends. And inevitably, they are usually somewhere between 15 to 20 minutes long. Hard stop. Unless I go to the trouble and inconvenience to split the video into 15 minute segments and ask my friends to view them in ordered chunks?

There have just been big additions to iCloud that Apple felt warrant calling it iCloud+. And perhaps it deserves the "+". But not with this ongoing limitation that Apple has not reconsidered since iCloud was originally released. There needs to be an option when creating a shared album to select on a per-album basis (or even per-account basis) my own, paid, unused available space in iCloud rather than the free Apple supplied space that "doesn't count against me".

I would contend that it does count against me. Whether it's something I've recorded on my iPhone or video I've created in FCPX, Apple offers no way to share it beyond 15 minutes. Apple has always been focused on media. If I can't share it, why do we need Pro Apps for media creation? And why do I need a newer, better camera in my iPhone every year? I say that "tongue in cheek", as I know it has value. But Apple is supposed to be about "enabling", not "limiting". I believe they need to enable photo and video sharing from paid iCloud storage and the only limit should be you run out of space when you've used it all, at which point you have the option to buy more.
