iCloud Photos has been disabled, why?

I received an email that said "iCloud Photos has been disabled. You have 25 days remaining to make sure you have a complete copy of your photos and videos." I have checked ALL of my devices and iCloud Photo storage is turned on. I have not changed ANY settings on any of my devices. I have turned "Photos" off and then back on, still the same message 2 days later. I read another threat from 2015 where someone else had the same issue and not sure if it was ever resolved. Any insight would be great.

Welcome to Apple Support Communities Thatsgr8t,

We can definitely understand wanting to make sure you do not lose your iCloud photos after receiving an email like that. You mentioned that you've checked all of your devices and iCloud Photos is turned on and nothing has changed, do you see that message in Settings > Photos on any of your devices?

If not, that email may have been a phishing attempt. Check out more information here: Recognize and avoid phishing messages, phony support calls, and other scams.

If you've clicked on any links in the email or provided any Apple ID information, you'll want to change your password immediately.
