SSL error using Apple Carplay

This issue started after I loaded iOS 14.8 last week. I am getting an error saying "SSL server is not secure," and iPhone functions like Maps will not work.

iPhone 12 mini, iOS 14

Did you try removing the previous pairing from your car's head unit and on your iPhone and trying again from scratch?

If that doesn't work you can try iOS 15 or you can contact the manufacturer of your head unit and see if they have an update. Are you seeing this message on your phone?

I don't know what the car's head unit is. I am seeing the message on my phone, and on my car's display. When I access maps from outside my car, it works.

The cars head unit is the radio/display. If you are also seeing it on the car's screen then try what I suggested.
