why cant i use boot camp on my new m1 pro to add windows

You can't boot in Windows on a M1 Mac because it is an Arm cpu not an Intel cpu (not the same architecture).


However you can use Parallels 17 to boot an Arm preview Windows Virtual Machine (Windows 10 or Windows 11) while in MacOS.


Check the Parallels website for details. The Arm preview of Windows 10 and Windows 11 can run most basic intel based programs and Microsoft software without a glitch. You might have issues running heavy duty programs though.
