No sound notifications for texts on iPhone 12

Solution: Turning off Bluetooth worked, but not when iPhone was locked. What worked was opening the Apple Watch app on phone > Notifications > Messages > change from Mirror my iPhone’ to Custom, then check Send to Notifications Center.

Had same problem. Go to Focus on settings. Had it activated but the quiet time was not. So quiet was 24 hours. Either deactivate it or turn on quiet time if you want it functional for whatever hours you do not want to be notified.

Hmm, interesting question. With an Apple watch involved, it might still be trying to send the notification to the watch even though it is turned off.

See these standards steps for no sound and maybe something will fix it:

1. Is the side silent mute button on? Does any red show? Slide it back and fourth.
2. How about the volume buttons? Is the volume very low? Move the buttons.
3. Is Do Not Disturb on? Go to Settings > Do Not Disturb. Is it turned on? Check the times.
4. Go to Settings > Sounds & Haptics. Check the Ringer and Alerts slider.  Try changing the sound pattern for the type of alert.
5. Go to Settings > Notifications. Is the app listed?
6. Do other sounds work? What about phone calls? 
7. Do you have an Apple watch? Many of the notifications will go to the watch instead of the phone.

Note: you can send text messages to yourself for testing purposes.

It's the Bluetooth! Tested with my phone paired with my Fitbit, and MacBook Pro paired with my Magic Mouse. Only one Apple device can have bluetooth on in proximity of my phone in order for my iPhone 12 Pro to sound text alerts when my phone is locked, but Mac is unlocked. Inconvenient that I can no longer pair both devices to peripherals at the same time and receive sound notifications, but I'm so happy that I know what's going on now!

Turning Bluetooth to off got text tones back for me.

Disable Attention-Aware Features from Settings -> Face ID & Passcode and after i recived notifications from messanger, whatsupp..

Just screw to your privacy, found FOCUS, hit the button and turn off the MESSAGES option. DO NOT DISTURB, go back to settings and hit on FOCUS, then DO NOT DISTURB OPTION, and now put off MESSAGES. You’re all set to go.

I turned Bluetooth off MacBook, Ipad, Watch and finally got my text notification tone back on phone. I also tweaked my focus feature but this didn't seem to help. This issue needs to be addressed by Apple for sure. Having to turn Bluetooth off and on is quite inconvenient.

I had deleted a couple focus features I wasn’t using and had to reinstall them before everything started working. After several restarts with all my Apple devices including my watch my notifications are finally working. I have more than I want but at this point I’m afraid to turn any of them off.

My Messages notification sound was working just fine, then it stopped working all of a sudden. I was still getting vibrate, but I missed some important messages because I didn't have my phone in my pocket. I noticed that the Silent Mode button on my iPhone 12 was in the red position, so apparently I must have accidentally put my phone in Silent Mode. If you can't get anything else to work, check that button (left side, above the volume buttons).

Turn ur Bluetooth off and try it then. Then turn ur Bluetooth back on. 👍🏽

Use support app to call them. AppleCare or not I’ve always been helped quite quickly.
