PIN Number

When I want to rent a movie on Apple tv it asks for a PIN number. What is that and how do I get one?

Renting a movie would require the password for your Apple ID account.
Additionally, restrictions may have been set to prevent making purchases without knowing a 4-digit passcode. This would be off by default. This would be set by the user. Restrict access to content in the Apple TV app - Apple Support
