Any way to get old user@mac.com emails? I tried changing it to user@icloud.com but verification emails from an old game account not getting through.

You are welcome. If you log into your Apple ID using the link below, does the @mac.com account show under Reachable At?
If you go to Mail/Preferences/Accounts/iCloud/Account Information and click on Email Address, does the @Mac.com email address show there?
I had never set up to receive emails when I created this account and it must have become defunct over time. Trying to set up the email address failed. Thanks for your help.

At least I know now that the account, created before 2008, was not active and is now defunct. Thanks for the link.
No, it tells me it is not valid or not supported.
