iPhone not showing Wi-Fi in status bar after connecting

iPhone 8, iOS 15.0.2

Settings - Wi-Fi shows I am connected to home Wi-Fi. However status bar says "LTE." I've followed all steps in this page: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204051

Network router is current. All other devices (Apple and PC) connect with no issues. Yesterday I reset network settings, which worked through this morning. The same issue happened when I came back home. I'm able to connect to work Wi-Fi. Tried deleting SurfShark VPN, but that did not make a difference.

Anything else I can try? Is it possible I am actually connected to Wi-Fi and status bar is showing incorrectly?

So I just updated to iOS 15.1 and it seems to be fixed now. All working good as it should now. Give that a shot!

A few more steps taken:

Turned off cellular and left Wi-Fi on. Status bar shows no data connection, but Internet does work.

Then tried a hard reset (vol up, vol down, hold power til Apple logo appears). No change. Wi-Fi connected after restart. Then I turned cellular on. Status bar switched back to LTE. Turned off cellular, and status bar shows no connection. Internet is working, though. So it seems to be an issue with the status bar being incapable of showing Wi-Fi once cellular has connected.

I’m experiencing the exact same issues. Not showing the status in the top right hand corner, but it’s working. I can put it into airplane mode, but turn on WiFi only, and run a speed test with great results of what my home network gets, but still only displays an airplane icon and no WiFi connection even though it’s actually working.

This seemed to start at the last 15.0.2 update. I travel a lot for work and it’s nice to know I’m connected to WiFi networks vs using up cell data…
