search function missing

how do i search on my ipad? when i swipe down on my ipad it only locks the screen. there is no search bar

Place a finger smack dab in an emprty area anywhere near the very middle of the iPad's screen and swipe your finger downward to reveal the iPadOS search bar.

iPad Pro 12.9 (2021) - iOS 14.8 - no search bar Hello, I am a long-time iPad/iPhone/Mac user. About a month ago, I bought a new iPad Pro, 12.9 inch (2021 model). Since I bought it, I have not been able to locate the search bar. It is not displayed on the ‘home’ screen/ swipe right or on the ‘notifications’/ swipe down screen.
