Desktop keeps disappearing from my Finder Favorites - BUG

Desktop shortcut keeps disappearing from my Finder Favorites. Using Big Sur 11.6 OS on a 2019 iMac i5. Also to note, I just rebooted the entire OS a week ago, I had the same problem before the reboot, anytime I restarted my computer Desktop would disappear from my Favorites in the Finder, it is the only location that disappears?

I had the same issue before I rebooted the OS, so I am going to guess this is an OS bug.

Is anyone else dealing with this bug?

James

This is the macOS Sierra community, there is a Big Sur community, macOS Big Sur - Apple Community

where your question may be answered by others using Big Sur.

As far as I am aware it is not a bug.

Possibly a corrupt preference file.

Try this,

Click once on the Desktop,

Click on Go in the menu bar and select Go To Folder.

Enter this text,

~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist

press Go.

A new Finder window will open with the file highlighted, move it to the Trash.

Restart your mac, the file will be regenerated.

Redo your Finder and Sidebar preferences, see if they will stick this time.

If you notice a copy of the same file but with an alphanumeric extension after the .plist

then put that in the Trash as well, the alphanumeric extension is a clue to the file being corrupted.
