See my Music in iMovie

I want to add music to my iMovie project. It wont work with Spotify so I resigned up with iTunes again just so I could download 1 song for my movie.

Then iMovie still cant see any of my Music. So I tried downloading from iCloud to the device (MacBook Pro).

Music wont download as it says I have too many devices set up for my account. (Why do Apple sell stuff if they don't let you use it. I have an iWatch, iPhone, Mac Mini, MacBook Pro and TV)

So I deleted the devices from my account leaving only my MacBook Pro enabled.

The message is still saying too many devices connected. So I quit all apps. cleared cookies, retried to download and it still says too many devices. Surely 1 device is allowed, I thought I could have 5.

Ive been using Mac for 10 years but its not the same fun it used to be. Too many hurdles and the speed is slower than my PC.

Is there any advice on how to sync Music with iMovie before I just stop and use my PC.

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 11.6

Possibly the song that you are trying to download is DRM protected, in which case it would not show in iMovie. Songs purchased before Year 2009 are DRM protected. Try purchasing a song from iTunes now, maybe the same song that won't appear, and see if iMovie can read it.

Also, you can open your iTunes library and drag the song into iMovie. You might need to drag it to your desktop first.

Songs purchased from Apple Music also are DRM protected and can't be used in iMovie, even if they are downloaded to iTunes.

From what I have read, if you already have an iTunes library you can access it through the Apple Music app. You can also access the iTunes store through the Apple Music app.

Here's an article that you might find of interest as to how to download iTunes when running Big Sur.

Not having done the procedures described in the above article I cannot vouch for them.

This is so bizare.

I download the latest version of iTunes to my MacBook Pro running macOS BigSur 11.6

I unpack the installation and the message is This update requires macOS version 10.13.99 or earlier.

I search for advice and find There is no compatible version of iTunes for MacOS Big Sur

I have always run MS Office on my Mac because Numbers, Pages and Mail are just too light weight. But know even the application Apple is built for don't seem to run smoothly.

Thanks Rich

I have now got most sounds I download popping up in iMovie. I had to disable a number of old iPhones in my Apple Account as well as my Music account.

I get it with the DRM. The song I'm trying to download I purchased through Apple Music. I thought iTunes and Apple Music where the same thing. Seems i need to get an iTunes account as well an a n Apple Music account.

Apple Music so that iMovie can see the song and iTunes to get the song without DRM.

Helpful thanks
