Music not showing in imovie

Hi!

I am new to video creating, I am trying to get music into my imovie video, I have like 10 OLD songs that show up from itunes in the audio section of imovie. I have hundreds of songs I have downloaded since 2009, the ones I want to use were downloaded in 2020. I have NO idea how to use icloud, I was wondering if anyone could give some very basic starter advice on how to fix this issue? *From a not very technically inclined individual ! lol, thanks for any help!

As a workaround, open your iTunes library in the iTunes app and drag the song directly into the timeline of an iMovie project.

I can't tell why your post 2009 iTunes songs are not showing up in the Audio section of iMovie.

DRM protected songs and songs from Apple Music, which are all DRM protected, cannot be used in iMovie. Songs downloaded from Apple Music into iTunes will carry DRM protection and thus cannot be used in iMovie. Does any part of that situation apply to you?
