.m4a file will not sync from Apple Music to iCloud

Hello apple users,

I am a 15 year Apple computer user, but I am stumped. I need help, syncing an .m4a file to iCloud.

My device: OS is 12.1 Apple M1pro MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2021).

The files stored on the MacBook Pro will play on Apple Music. I just have a problem sending them to iCloud.

Settings: Apple music/preferences/General/Library/sync Library checked

Files Stored Here: /Macintosh HD/Users/firstnamelastname/Music/Music/Media

Other settings:

Apple music/preferences/Files/Keep Music Folder Organized: checked

Apple music/preferences/Files/Copy files to music media folder when adding to the library: checked

Screenshot showing the Red download button on Apple music , and also screenshot from my iPhone

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks, Stephen

Hello Stephen Della Casa,

It looks like you're trying to sync music that was imported to your Mac to your iCloud Music Library. We'll be glad to help.

Currently, you can sync your Apple Music library if you're a subscriber to Apple Music. This will guide you: Turn on Sync Library with Apple Music

You will see there:

If you don't subscribe to Apple Music

"If you only want to sync your existing music library across all of your devices, and not any music from the Apple Music catalog, you can subscribe to iTunes Match on your computer. iTunes Match lets you access your music library on any Apple device or a PC with iTunes for Windows."

You can also manually Sync your iPhone, iPad, or iPod using your computer

Take care!

Hello,

This did not solve the problem and is not correct. I am trying to upload files to iCloud. The file transfer does not complete and an error message appears.

In my message I stated that the files "I need help, syncing an .m4a file to iCloud. " and "The files stored on the MacBook Pro will play on Apple Music. I just have a problem sending them to iCloud. "

Do you have any suggestions to upload these .m4a files to icloud?

Thanks!
