Move from Android to iOS results in large data amount in folder "on my iPhone"

Hello,

I raise this problem in the international community, because my attempt to get this issue solved in the German community did not provide any helpful solution or response.

On 08OCT2021 I have successfully moved an Android smartphone (Samsung S8) to an iPhone8 (iOS 15.0.1) using the Android app "Transfer to iOS" provided by Apple.

The process went flawlessly, as described in the instructions. The result on the iPhone met my expectations.

I noticed on the iPhone, when analyzing the iPhone storage, that there is a rather large amount of data (about 10GB) in folder "On my iPhone", which must have originated from this migration process.

How can I safely reduce this rather large amount of data, assuming it really comes from the migration process?

Will there be an automatic deletion process after f.i. 30 days and remove these migration related files?

Does anyone have experience with this and can describe or suggest a suitable procedure?

We understand you had some questions about the local storage of your iPhone. To get started, since this is the English communities, we wouldn't be able to translate your screenshots. Can you tell us the exact locations where you're going in order to see those screenshots?

With that said, is your iPhone actually low on storage or displaying a low storage alert? The reason we ask is usually the iOS will clear out or manage storage automatically when that space may be needed for other operations. My problem is actually to understand what happens to the migrated data (from the Android smartphone) once having been stored on the new iPhone.

I assume that this migration process - supported by the "Transfer to iOS"-App - copies files to the new iPhone and stores them locally on the new iPhone in a folder named "On my iPhone". From there the data (calendar, addressbook, photos and other files which can be handled on an iPhone) is moved to the respective "final destinations" (iOS-Calendar, iOS addressbook, iOS photos).

Such kind of procedure would make sense to me and would explain these 10GB (temporary space??) in folder "on my iPhone".

But I cannot find any information how to get rid of these 10GB in this folder.

Can I just delete the subfolders which obviously are related to the migration process?

Will iOS delete the migration related files automatically after a certain number of days?

Unfortunately the description of the "Transfer to iOS" App does not give any hints on such questions, what is a pity.

I just want answers on these questions.

Could you please help me?

By the way, because of these 10GB I cannot create a backup on iCloud (5GB by default) and I see no reason to purchase the 50GB plan for a Dollar per month.
