Black screen when streaming

When I try to stream non-Apple apps (eg Netflix, OSN) on my Apple TV (4K), I get a black screen. The audio works, but no picture.

I have tried restarting, resetting, changing HDMI cables, reinstalling apps, the works. Nothing works. My Apple TV is 3 years old, there really shouldn’t be a lifespan on these things (but knowing Apple it wouldn’t surprise me).

Any suggestions?

Try this for any misbehaving app:

Force-quit the app, then relaunch and try again.
If the issue persists, force-quit the app, restart the device, then relaunch and try again.
If the issue still persists, delete the app, re-download and try again.
If the issue still persists, then contact the app developer for further assistance.
