Battery not charging after power surge

I had a power surge the other day and now the light on my Magsafe charger isn't lighting up, the battery is not charging despite being plugged in (battery shows charging symbol but says it isnt charging). I did a SMC reset but nothing. Tried a couple brand new chargers but also nothing. I saw previously on here before that people had problems with the actual magsafe charger. Just wondering if there is anything else I can do. I will probably try to go to the apple store to see if there is something that else can be done.

I always use a surge protector to plug into...in an effort to avoid power surges, brown power etc.

If this is an Intel Mac you can —

Try resetting the SMC https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201295

Try resetting NVRAM/PRAM http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379

(get at least two-three rounds of the chimes when holding the NRAM Reset)
