do they make a usb extender for mac 2.0 usb?

I've been using a generic one for years, just to have an easily available USB port that I can plug iPhones, portable HDs, etc in to at my work station. It came with a 2010 vintage freebee thumb drive and I've been using it ever since. It works great. I love it cuz I don't have to turn my iMac around or grope around behind it for a USB port.

such things are more made for macs or for usb2 it's a generic product

Do you mean a male/female extension cable? If so buy Apple, others I've tried (left over from Windows systems) all failed to work. YMMV.
