iPad - Safari Bookmark Handling (IOS15)

When using Safari in landscape, I go into into my bookmarks and I lose the ability to hide the sidebar without having to back all the way out to the first page of the sidebar.

Please advise.

In stating that the issue has been resolved, it has been in that the Sidebar can be opened/closed with the now usefully persistent Sidebar button.

However, switching between Favourites/Reading List/History still requires navigation back through the directory tree. As such, it is perhaps “half” a fix - in that half of the issues that have been attracting complaint have been resolved.

Hello GFONGSG,

We see that you have questions about Safari on your iPad.

When you tap the icon to view your Bookmarks, Reading List, and Tab Groups a sidebar appears. If you tap bookmarks and subfolders the icon changes to allow you to go back to the previous view. Browse the web using Safari on iPad

There are many changes within iPadOS15 - and major changes to Safari and its management of Bookmarks is only one of the significant changes.

You are not the first to make the observation concerning the major limitations of the iPadOS15 Safari Sidebar - and certainly won’t be the last. Here is just one of the many discussions about this topic:

Apple do invite constructive feedback, comments and feature requests via their product feedback pages. For iPad and iPadOS:

Until we see the production-release version of iPadOS 15.1, it is impossible to say what - if any - improvements made have been made to this or other functionality.

You are strongly advised to make use of the Product Feedback portal - as every report is important. Until sufficient feedback has been received, to awaken the Giant, it is unlikely that resources will be assigned to this issue.
