Major issues with Google app after latest IOS update 15.0.2 on my IPad Air 2

I’ve had my trusty iPad Air 2 for a few years now and during this period I’ve come to know it well in regards to diagnosis of the occasional glitch or reasons for bad performance issues etc.

Immediately after updating to IOS 15.0.2 the Google app (not Chrome) which I use 90% of the time as my search engine and have for a very long time, is freezing up upon opening and when I attempt to type in the search box. Most of the time it is completely unresponsive to any touch commands and just kind of freaks out and will close automatically. I have experienced no other problems with any other apps which I frequently use and I’ve had to convert to Safari.

Anyone else having the same issues?

Please I am not looking for advice on how to tweak settings to improve performance etc. because I know that the problem isn’t me, the problem is in the programming code.
