Gift Card is not Valid?!

I Bought a Gift Card with cash at a grocery store. I sent a picture of the card to my sister (I bought it for her.) She sent me a text a little while later and said Cannot Redeem Code The code entered is not valid. Is there any way to rectify this situation?
