Split screen dots at top of ipad page

iPad Pro - iOS 15.0.2 , the 3 dots at the top of the page( split screen/view options ) , is highly annoying. Whoever thought to place it bang in the centre of the screen didn’t think it through. When I go to photos to edit and want to click on the LIVE button to disable it, it keeps clicking on the split screen option, because both LIVE and the 3 dots are positioned in exactly the same place. Same when in Safari , if I tap the top of the screen to scroll, it invariably taps the 3 dots. It’s driving me crazy. Is there a way to get rid of the split screen dots ? Thanks

The three dots “button”, and the multi-tasking controls of which you complain, are a core element of the iPadOS15 User Interface - intended to simplify use of full/split/slide-over multitasking. This control cannot be hidden or suppressed via iPad settings.

Some Apps will require update, by their respective developers, to accommodate changes made within iPadOS. Until affected Apps are updated, there is little that you can do other than to seek assistance from the respective App Developer:

read so many users wanted to have the option to turn off the 3 dots at the top of the screen so I wanted to share my solution. I could not get rid of it BUT I minimized it by : settings, Safari,Reader and turned off for all apps. Now when I am reading it disappears after a second from the page (Kindle Books), IF I adjust anything, lighting or font, it will remain and I just leave my book to search Kindle Unlimited Library and go back to my book for the top 3 dots and bottom task bar to disappear. Also I found while turning the page, I use 2 fingers lightly more towards the middle and the dots and bars do not show at all. I hope this helps for readers and artists.

Moving the multitasking button elsewhere on the screen will not necessarily resolve the problem - as the button will inevitably be “in the way” of some other App’s functions.

The link to provide feedback to Apple can be found in my earlier reply. Perhaps the best route to utopia is to learn how to use the now much improved multitasking environment - and its revised controls. There are many resources that you’ll find if you look for them - but here is brief overview:

This is another suggestion to the one I posted in March for the Reader in Safari and might help since I don't have the 3 dots interfere with anything like search or photos because I have my fonts set to med.-large due to my sight. My Icons are larger and the search box is larger and it stays far enough away from the dots. This might help some until an option is offered to remove Split Screen dots. We just need more suggestions to help while Apple figures an option.

So much more annoying than helpful. Pull the intern off this one and get some real UI designers to use their own crap and I am pretty sure this would change. I never use those buttons. If i want split screen use i swipe up and pull from the menu bar. It is much more direct in intent and a more positive motion. Please. Please. Just allow me to turn off those crap dots! Come on!

@LotusPilot, thanks , appreciate the explanation. To be honest, I think it’s a really good feature, I just wish the controls had been placed a little bit to the right. Considering Apple Photos and Safari are Apple developed, you’d think they would have taken into account these factors…oh well !

thanks for the links, will be sure to send them feedback.

I won't update my iPad to ipados 15 until they remove this annoying dots. Even I don't have 15 I know it will drive me crazy and I won't stand this. These dots even don't make sense because to there are other ways to make split view and I won't use them. I don't know why did they make these dots, because they look ugly and I thought that Apple doesn't make make ugly designs, but with that dots I was wrong.

I hope that they will delete this or just give us an option to turn off.

Pozdrawiam, Maja

Hello Apple guru, I am not interested in the multi tasking button as you pointed out moving it may interfere with other apps.

Good point, so here’s a suggestion have the option to turn it off rather than leave the dam thing there?

On the positive some new options and improvements are good, but this one unfortunately is a pain and for most annoying.
