i’ve cancelled all subscriptions on my phone and through the app store and through my settings but it won’t let me remove my payment method and i can’t update any of my apps. basically i’m not sure what to do so can someone talk me through how to go about this?

If you want to change the payment info for your Apple ID, at least one valid payment method has to be listed.
So, try to add the new payment info first, then remove the old info.
