This song is not currently available in your country or region.

I'm running iOS 15.1 on an iPhone 8. Much of my music library is now greyed out in the Music app on my phone, and if I click one of the greyed out song titles, I get a popup that tells me "This song is not currently available in your country or region". I have not been traveling recently, and this is *my* music from my library, ripped into mp3 format on the exact same PC that I'm syncing to. This seems to be a common issue that has happened for years, but the hints given in the past are not working. Any thoughts?

Thanks for the response but that is not helpful. None of those scenarios are applicable. What if it is music that Apple does not have in its library but I still own a physical CD and burned a copy for my personal use? I have a lot of small label, independent music that Apple probably hasn’t heard of, but I still own the music and would like to listen to it. Restricting my library to songs you resell is unnecessarily restrictive and disappointing.

Hey there JGaltEnterprises,

We understand you're experiencing an issue with your songs being grayed out on your iPhone, and we'd like to share a resource that can help.

Check it out here: If your songs are grayed out

Specifically, the section below may help:

"If a song isn't available in Apple Music

Some songs or albums might be grayed out because they're not currently available in Apple Music. Here are some reasons why:

  • Artists and content providers might release some songs from an album in advance, but not all of them. If you add the entire album to your library, the songs will become available as they're released.
  • Artists and content providers might change or remove music from the Apple Music catalog. Search Apple Music to see if that song is available under a different name or file. If it is, add the song to your library so it's no longer grayed out.
  • The song might not be available in your country or region and will appear in gray text when you search for it in Apple Music.
  • If an explicit song is grayed out, you might have restrictions turned on for your device. You can use Screen Time on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, or Screen Time on your Mac to turn off restrictions. You can also add the clean version from Apple Music to your library."

Cheers!
