“Also Allow Nearby to Airplay”

Hi.


Can someone please tell me how this “Also Allow Nearby to Airplay” setting works. Of course the name itself is quite self explanatory but I am trying to solve something and this is the first thing I need to be sure of before I start to look fault from somewhere else. Does this setting allow my neighbors Apple TV to pop-up in my Airplay device list without my consent.

“Also Allow Nearby to AirPlay” allows nearby devices that are not connected to your home network, to stream to that specific Apple TV. It then initiates the connection directly with the Apple TV box (I believe through Bluetooth).

Turn it off to block out your neighbors and other accidental AirPlay’ers.

Turn it on temporarily to allow your guests to AirPlay.
