Hi.
Can someone please tell me how this “Also Allow Nearby to Airplay” setting works. Of course the name itself is quite self explanatory but I am trying to solve something and this is the first thing I need to be sure of before I start to look fault from somewhere else. Does this setting allow my neighbors Apple TV to pop-up in my Airplay device list without my consent.

“Also Allow Nearby to AirPlay” allows nearby devices that are not connected to your home network, to stream to that specific Apple TV. It then initiates the connection directly with the Apple TV box (I believe through Bluetooth).
Turn it off to block out your neighbors and other accidental AirPlay’ers.
Turn it on temporarily to allow your guests to AirPlay.

My problem is reversed though.
If your neighbor’s device is connectable, then only they can change that in their Settings.
Thank you. I agree. Just wanted to make sure. My problem is reversed though. There is a device in my airplay list that is not one of my devices. It is irritating to have multiple “living rooms” to choose from. Renaming my rooms isn’t much of a solution. Is there a way to hide unwanted airplay devices? Thanks.
