Yes you can use most any type of monitor (Display) with a Mac Mini. It has an HDMI port for HDMI Displays and TVs, plus you can get and use Thunderbolt 3/USB-C adapters and cables for other types of Display connections.

Above is correct if this is a Mac mini. In addition to the above, a Mac mini M1 supports two monitors, some other models can potentially support more than two.
An iMac is a very different Mac, with different connections available, and the smallest iMac model currently available is the 24” M1 with support for one added display.

As for any… You will probably want a digital connection to an external monitor, and a monitor with support for HDCP protected content. Monitors connected via VGA or DVI will work, but will be prohibited by HDCP; you won’t be able to play back certain purchased media content.
