How can I type a 'rafar', a 'c' shaped character, normally printed above vowels e.g. in a name like 'Aparna' and 'Karve'. The rafar would appear on 'na' for the former and in conjunction with 'a' above 've' in the latter.

Would it be possible to allocate perhaps a key on the numeric keyboard to make it easy because it would help to have an actual pictorial representation.

Sorry, I don't exactly understand what you mean by that. Could you explain what such a key would look like?

The basic rule for writing all Indic scripts on such keyboards is to type virama between characters whenever a conjunct or other special form is needed.

In case you need the eyelash ra, see

It is not allowing me to include Marathi characters on my reply. Two bracket keys could be sacrificed as there two other variations of brackets. One key would show a dotted circle with ‘c’ on top, the opposite of the virama as you call it and other key would be a right to left flip of the third character on the second row of the Marathi keyboard like a backward slash under a dotted circle. Hope that makes some sense!

I don't think they would do that, there can only be one key for the R sound, and it has to be typed in the right sound order.

What Marathi letter would that be? The present version is the correct halanta. A right to left flip would make it backwards.
